CHAOS & CITY

Michael & Janet

Michael & Janet

This work examines relationships between human beings - in this particular case Michael and Janet Jackson - and their relationship as adults. It is based on the emotions conveyed in their last duet together, ‘Scream’. It portraits the close bond between the two, forming an almost aloof alliance driven by an angry power towards the public, with emotive dance as their choice of communication with the viewer. Polished, raw energy, in a militaristically precise performance. Further info click on contact

Out with a white vest

This piece looks into how the human need for social connections shapes us, gives us a sense of identity, and how we influence the individuals and groups of people around us in return. It questions the blurry lines between individual self-definition and the communal attribution of characteristics towards groups in society. Which associations with what group do we consciously seek, which do we adopt unconsciously, which do we unwittingly get identified with. And how do these change over time. The piece makes reference to the artist’s past and present associations and includes a reflective surface which, changes the mix of attributes depending on the viewer in front of it. screenprint on perspex.Further info click on contact.
